In July the Devarenne family received a devastating phone call that their beautifully furnished home in Colorado Springs had been overrun by a group of homeless, drug-addicted, "squatters" that burglarized, vandalized, and physically damaged ALL of their personal belongings, furniture and valuables, including their home. The home was left vacant while SGT. Devarenne was on a mission and Mrs. Devarenne drove herself and their 3yr old son across country to help her mother in a medical emergency. The "squatters" were chronic drug users who had young children in the home exposed while using and trashing the home so terribly the homeowners received several city ordinance violations and threats of the home being condemned.
